Private lessons primarily take place at my studio directly off the Church Ave BQ stop in Prospect Park South, Brooklyn.

No home instruments are required for Junior Jam classes, but ukuleles are recommended. Makala soprano ukuleles with bag and tuner are available at a reduced price of $75 (usually $80). Home instruments are required for private lessons and PB&Jam groups. PB&Jam students should have their primary instrument to practice on at home. Reach out to Sarah for recommendations!

As of Feb 2026, the new student private lesson rate $60/30 min, $80/45 min, $100/hr. Back-to-back siblings split the hourly rate (i.e. siblings taking two 30-minute lessons pay $100 total). Students taking private lessons receive 10% off classes.

Please email Sarah as soon as you know you can't make a class or lesson. There is no charge for private lessons cancelled 24+hours in advance. Private lessons cancelled within 12-24 hours are billed at half rate. Full tuition is due with less than 12 hours notice. All private lesson students have 1 free last minute cancellation per year (resets after Labor Day). Junior Jam classes billed on the Flexible Plan can have up to 3 credits issued for cancellations with 24+ hours notice. No credits issued on flat rate plan or with less than 24 hours notice. No credits issued for PB&Jam classes.

1 private lesson spot is always held for reduced price, billed at pay what you can between $30-45 per 30-minute lesson. Email to inquire if this reduced fee spot is open. Off-Peak Hours: Come for lessons between 11AM and 2PM to receive $10 off your lesson price.

Junior Jam classes are suggested drop-off classes. Parents are welcome to stay but are asked not to go in and out of the space while class is in session. Door will be locked between drop-off and pick-up. PB&Jam is a drop-off class. Private lessons are to the student's preference.
