Wednesday Classes
Session: July 1 - Aug 26 (9 weeks)
Junior Jam classes are introductory music classes with an instrumental focus. They provide students with a solid foundation of rhythm, pitch matching, and instrumental skills in a low pressure, high fun environment. Junior Jam classes rotate instrumental focus so children can try a wide variety of instruments and build a strong musical base.
Wed 1:00-1:45pm || Little Ukulele Junior Jam
Age: Ages 4-7
Ukulele is a perfect child-size guitar. Learning ukulele teaches all the same basic skills as learning guitar in a slightly simpler format while being a full instrument in itself.
Ukulele for littles includes ukulele instruction, movement and dance, games for music fundamentals, games and songs to develop the singing voice.
Wed 2:00-2:45pm || Boomwhackers Junior Jam
Age: Ages 5-9
Boomwhackers are pitched percussion instruments that can be hit on the knee or floor to create sound. Check out [this] ensemble as a cool example! We'll use boomwhackers to learn about reading musical notation and to play along to some of our favorite songs.
Wed 3:00-3:50pm || Bucket Drumming Junior Jam
Age: Ages 7-12
In the style of "Stomp," students will learn rhythmic notation and drumming stick technique while playing along to some of our favorite songs. Check out [this] ensemble as a cool example. Students will learn how to play and rehearse as an ensemble, get creative in drum circles, and develop their sense of beat.
Wed 4:00-4:45pm || Youth Ukulele Junior Jam
Age: Ages 7-12
Ukulele is a perfect child-size guitar. Learning ukulele teaches all the same basic skills as learning guitar in a slightly simpler format while being a full instrument in itself.
Ukulele for youth will feature a slightly longer instructional time and songs picked by students, as compared to the littles class.
Thursday classes
Session: July 2 - Aug 27 (9 weeks)
Thu 1:00-1:45pm || Little Ukulele Junior Jam
Age: Ages 4-7

Thu 2:00-2:45pm || Piano Junior Jam
Age: Ages 5-7
Learn all about the piano in a low-stakes, high-fun, small group environment. A beginner’s introduction to the instrument, including navigating the keyboard, piano technique, rhythm and note reading, simple songs, and lots of games.
Thu 3:00-3:50pm || Piano Junior Jam
Age: Ages 7-9
Learn all about the piano in a low-stakes, high-fun, small group environment. A beginner’s introduction to the instrument, including navigating the keyboard, piano technique, rhythm and note reading, simple songs, and lots of games.
Thu 4:00-4:50pm || Guitar Junior Jam
Age: Ages 7-12
Learn all about the guitar using open tunings so we’re making music from the first day. A beginner’s introduction including reading chord charts, rhythm reading, strumming, fretting technique, and lots of games. Featuring songs known and/or chosen by students
Junior Jam Policies

4yo+ Junior Jam classes are drop-off suggested classes. Parents are welcome to stay but are asked not to go in and out of the space while class is in session. Door will be locked between drop-off and pick-up.

All classes take place at Cortelyou Music & Play. Cortelyou Music & Play is a shoes-off space.

Autopay is accepted via credit card (3.1% fee) and ACH (no fee). All families must have payment method on file.

$60 non-refundable deposit required to register. This is applied to your first month's tuition. Tuition billed monthly, first week of the month.

Students are not required to own an instrument for Junior Jam classes, but it is highly recommended to get the most out of the class!

Classes need a minimum of 3 participants to run. If class cancellations bring the attendance down to 1 student, that student receives a 25-min private lesson in lieu of class.

Available for purchase: Makala Soprano Ukulele with gig bag & tuner for discounted price of $75 (usually $80)

Junior Jam and PB&Jam students have priority for new private lesson slots in the Fall
Payment Plans
Flat Rate Plan: Best value at $32 per class, no credits issued.
Flexible Plan: Up to 3 credits issued with 24+ hours cancellation notice at $39/class. Credits roll over to next month's invoice.

Steps to register:
1. Fill out this form
2. Be on the lookout for a welcome email with deposit invoice and invitation to the parent portal.
3. Register for the parent portal and pay your $60 deposit (non-refundable and applied to first month's tuition). All students must have a payment method on file. Credit cards (3.1% fee) and ACH (no fee) accepted.
